"The clearest way into the universe is through a forest wilderness."
John Muir
![]() The LUNA Project is an alternative learning center that provides opportunities for people to develop and reflect on their values and to consider how they might take an active role in creAting a healthier environment for future generations.
In 2002 David Masters, driven by his passion for the outdoors, started Lunatic Adventures Inc., a wilderness guiding company. Three years later, in an effort to live a more environmentally aware lifestyle, David moved his home and office from the busy city of Toronto to the quiet countryside of St. George. David built a Yurt, installed solar panels, a wind turbine, a composting toilet, and opened up his home as a model in sustainable living; thus evolved The LUNA Project. The interest generated by David's alternative lifestyle soon lead to the construction of a multi-use classroom Yurt and the creation of an alternative learning center. We strive to make every experience with nature a positive one. Creating our own environmental policy is one way that we are able to protect our environment so that we may enjoy every experience equally for years to come. Limiting group sizes is one way that we are able to offer a smaller "footprint" on the environment, while maintaining an intimate experience giving you the chance to explore at your own pace. Our guides are trained in many facets of wilderness education, giving each trip its own unique classroom. Passing on our knowledge is one of the best ways we are able to help protect our legacy for generations to come. We take great pride in designing unique menus for each backcountry excursion. Many misconceptions with camping include feasting on nothing but granola and freeze dried meals. We make sure that every menu is packed with nutritious, enjoyable, and fresh ingredients that will amaze you as to how elegant a wilderness trip can be. Special menu requirements can also be met with advanced notice. Sample our Menu Safety, comfort, and group health are only a few of the factors into deciding what gear to use on our trips. It is our responsibility to ensure that you are in safe hands. This is why each and every trip is outfitted with the most up to date safety and rescue equipment available. Our guides are also trained and certified with proper use and repair of all gear.
