Sample Itinerary

Day 1: Bell Lake Access Point - Balsam Lake (10:00am)
• Arrive at access point and prepare for trip departure.
• Before departure, a discussion will be conducted by your guide(s) to review safe canoeing procedures, a short "on the water" session to show proper paddling techniques, followed by a breakdown of your day's itinerary.
• Depart from access point at south end of Bell Lake. Paddle approximately 6.5 km north east across Bell Lake and into Three Mile. Once on Three Mile Lake we will enjoy a secluded shore lunch on a small private island.
• After lunch we will continue our journey to the short 30m portage between Three Mile and Balsam Lakes.
• We will then resume our paddling journey on Balsam Lake, a remaining 2km to our evening camp
• The afternoon will be spent on setting up camp, exploring our new surroundings, and then sitting down to a relaxing dinner around the campfire.

Day 2: Balsam Lake - David Lake
• Before breakfast we will start to break camp and get ready for our second day on the water.
• Before we depart, there will be plenty of time for a morning swim with the loons, or a chance to sit and start a new book. The morning will be yours to enjoy.
• Before lunch we will paddle to camp 2 on David Lake, a 2.5km paddle west through a series of islands, rocky outcrops, and the views of the La Cloche Mountains.
• A 665m portage meets us at the end of Balsam Lake as we journey towards David Lake. A remaining 3km paddle to our site that will offer us a tremendous view of the evening sunset
• The rest of the day will be spent setting camp, exploring our new surroundings, and spending some quality time relaxing.
• During the evening hours you can choose from a candle-light canoe trip, night sit or story telling around the campfire.

Day 3: Hike to the Summit of Silver Peak
• Today we will leave the canoes behind and take to the trails. After a quick bite to eat in the morning we will depart for the summit of Silver Peak. A 3.5km trek up the rocky trail passing over the La Cloche Mountain range will bring us to one of the best views to be seen in all of Ontario.
• As we continue along the trail, your guide will instruct you on native edible and medicinal plants, wildlife, and more.
• Once you've used your entire roll of film, we will return the remaining 3.5km to our site for a nice relaxing evening by the fire.

Day 4: David Lake - Bell Lake
• After breakfast we will break camp and prepare for the final leg of our journey, a 2.5km paddle south to our first of two portages. A 200m (dependant upon water levels) to David Creek, then a 745m to return us back into Bell Lake.
• Along the 1.25km paddle along David Creek, there will be plenty of opportunities to pause and take in the scenery. Dependant upon conditions, this is also a wonderful location to view wildlife.
• 3.25km is all that remains in our loop journey of the east end of Killarney Park. We will arrive back at our vehicles by 1:00pm for our drive home.

This trip can be altered in many ways. This is just a sample itinerary; the actual schedule is reflective of the needs of the group. If more time is needed for exploration, or hiking, your guide may choose to alter the itinerary slightly.
