The 2 Day Rain Lake trip is perfect for the weekend adventurer in search of a quick wilderness getaway. After only a short paddle and one portage away, we'll set up camp at the end of Rain Lake where you'll have plenty of time to explore the surroundings on foot, or venture out for a short evening paddle.

Sample Itinerary
Day 1: Rain Lake Access Point - Sawyer Lake (10:00am)
• Arrive at access point and prepare for trip departure.
• Before departure, a discussion will be conducted by your guide(s) to review safe canoeing procedures, a short on the water session to show proper paddling techniques, followed by a breakdown of your day's itinerary.
• After a short paddle we will enjoy a floating lunch on Rain Lake
• After lunch we will continue our approximately 6km paddle west towards our first portage.
• Portage 310m to Sawyer Lake
• From portage camp is less than a 1km paddle to the extreme west leg of Sawyer Lake
• The afternoon will be spent on setting up camp, exploring our new surroundings, and then sitting down to a relaxing dinner around the campfire.

Day 2: Sawyer Lake - Rain Lake
• After breakfast we will start to break camp
• We'll spend the morning exploring and then have a 1km paddle back to our portage
• Portage 310m
• We will pause in a sheltered bay for lunch then continue our paddle
• 6km paddle back to the take out point for approximately 3:00pm
• Load vehicles and return to the city


This trip can be altered in many ways. This is just a sample itinerary; the actual schedule is reflective of the needs of the group. If more time is needed for exploration, or hiking, your guide may choose to alter the itinerary slightly.

Algonquin Provincial Park spans 7725 square kilometers of mixed forests, and remote lakes and rivers. Located at the southern edge of the Canadian Shield, Algonquin is the oldest provincial park in Ontario, and one of the largest parks in Canada. It is also one of Canada's premier canoeing destinations. Only three hours north of us, the park is ideal for a quick retreat. Cool dark lakes, an abundance of wildlife and beautiful thick forests revitalize the senses.
