Sample Itinerary

09:30: Meet at the Paris portage to sign in and arrange transport up to Glen Morris.
10:00: In Glen Morris, a brief discussion will be conducted by your guide(s) to review safe canoeing procedures and proper paddling techniques and to give a breakdown of the day's itinerary.
10:15: Once one the water, we just go with the flow. The gentle current will help us along as we paddle through Canada's unique and beautiful Carolinian Forest. We'll have the opportunity to discuss some of the special features of the region and even stop to explore some of the flora that makes up this interesting eco-region.
11:15: After a reminder from your guide(s) about river safety, we'll splish and splash through a couple of short stretches of easy moving water and even, time permitting, stop for a refreshing swim in the current.
12:15: All cooled off, we'll raft our boats together and let the river do the work, giving us a chance to dry off in the sun as we eat our lunch and enjoy the scenery. Once fed, we'll pick up our paddles for the final stretch into Paris.
02:15: Our take-out is at the portage where we left our vehicles. Those interested are invited to join us at the pub for a few more laughs to finish off the day.

This trip can be altered in many ways. This is just a sample itinerary; the actual schedule is reflective of the needs of the group. If more time is needed for exploration, or hiking, your guide may choose to alter the itinerary slightly.

Designated as a Canadian Heritage River, the Grand has always been an important feature of Southern Ontario's history and landscape. As it winds its way along its 290 kilometer course, the Grand River and its tributaries drain the largest watershed in this part of the province. The area is home to a great diversity of plant and animal life, including many Carolinian species which flourish here.
