The LUNA Challenge

This adventure will utilize multiple levels of transportation, skill, teamwork, observation, and wit. The object of this challenge is to have teams compete to locate landmarks with a portable GPS unit and aerial photographs. Our instructors will work with groups individually to develop skills and confidence before the challenge begins. The first challenge is a timed canoe event down the Grand River through Sharps Rapids. Each team will race against the clock to secure their starting position in the Geocaching event. Teams will be given their first waypoint and will then try to locate their checkpoint at The LUNA Project. Once found, teams will read a posted description about location or object, upon completion, the group will work together to locate their next checkpoint and race against the clock. When teams have completed all 5 challenges, they will be asked questions about the landmark or object they located throughout the course; upon the correct response they will be given one arrow for each right answer. As a team, they will move to the archery range to achieve time credits then be awarded one mountain bike per team. The chosen rider will complete a small task on their bike and join their awaiting team to hike to the Lookout and cross the finish line.

These events will surly help to enhance team skills and develop strong connections as you complete the course.

After the successful completion of The LUNA Challenge, prepare yourself for a delicious locally sourced organic BBQ featuring farm raised Red Angus Beef, local vegetables and plants harvested from our own forest garden. As the anticipation of the BBQ grows, take a tour of our sustainable living project where our guides will discuss alternative living options and methods used to lower our ecological footprint. To close the day all challengers’ will participate in an awards ceremony and group debrief around our large council fire circle. Minds full of wonder, and hearts filled with peace, we’ll wander our way through the trails for the groups’ departure from the main parking lot.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS DEPOSIT All reservations are based upon a first come first served basis. A 25% deposit is required to secure your reservation; the balance is too paid in full 14 days prior to departure date. If a reservation is to be made within 14 days of the departure date, full payment is required. Upon receipt of your deposit, you will receive trip confirmation and all pre-departure information. CANCELLATION A full refund, less a $100.00 administration fee, will be granted if cancellations are received within 14 days or more prior to departure date. Due to trip preparation fees, such as permits, staff training, and food, there will be no refund for cancellations less than 14 days prior to departure, unless otherwise agreed to, and authorized by The LUNA Project. For your convenience, you may change the date of your trip 14 days prior to departure without penalty. The LUNA Project, reserves the right to reschedule or cancel any trip should undesirable conditions prohibit travel. In the unlikely event of such a cancellation, all participants will be refunded in full. If a participant is late or fails to arrive for a confirmed course, clinic, or, trip, as outlined in the trip confirmation form, no refund or credit will be given. MEDICAL EXPENSES Any expense or cost incurred by use of medical care, or evacuation, is solely the responsibility of the participant (if under 18 years of age, the responsibility of the signed parent/guardian). All participants who are not Canadian citizens should have reimbursement insurance. Should a participant need to be sent home or evacuated during a program, all expenses are to be paid by the participant. All insurance costs are the responsibility of the participant. HEALTH AND LIABILITY All activities offered through The LUNA Project, are physically demanding. Participants should be in good physical health, any health issues or concerns should be fully disclosed on the participants’ medical form. CONFIDENTIALITY All information provided to The LUNA Project, by the participant is for office use only. The LUNA Project does not provide this information in any way to outside agencies.
